a genealogy blog with local history & family research resources. its narratives and notes include vital records info (marriages, births, & deaths); cemetery transcriptions & photos; & more. many families are not well covered in other genealogy sources.

I guess I should have said that the Yates and other families were residents of Roane County, TN also. I have posted a short article about TN Type on my blog Pentimento, along with some extra information on my Holmes family if anyone would like to take a look at it. The Holmes family info is a downloadable PDF file.

I am finding all of the names mentioned here very interesting because I connect to the Breedlove family that was in Simpson and Greene Counties, KY before migrating to MO; I am related to the MORRISON family through my 3rd Great Grandmother Deborah Holmes Yates who married (2) William Deatherage MORRISON. Deborah's sister Anne was married to James Barnard MORRISON who was killed in the Civil War and is buried in DE. Associated surnames for me are: Kelsay/Kelsey, Ball, Clark, Register, Yates, English, Chance, Phillips, Miller, Abston/Abstan. My G-Grandmother was Cerilda Breedlove who married James W. M. Yates in Howell County, MO. It truly is a small world. I live in WA state.

Nancy, when I was telling you about Dixie Rose's photo album, I forgot to to say that I will be happy to share the little data I have on this particular line. My main family interest is in the ELLIS connections. William Frank ELLIS was a son of Caleb ELLIS, who,in turn, was a brother to *my* third great-grandfather Francis ELLIS (abt 1763-1839, d Roane Co, TN) who was married to Sarah "Sally" BREEDLOVE (abt 1778-bet 1868-1888, buried in Roane Co, TN). Some of my HAGGARD and McPHERSON family members married into the Roane Co, TN DEATHERAGE line, as well, and so I always keep my eyes open for DEATHERAGE family members in that county.

Nancy, thanks for writing about your HALL relatives. You will see, however, that the photos of Elijah and Rebecca are not on *this* blog (or website). I am glad that the link was some real use to you. All I for did my own genealogy database was to use Google to see if I could locate more data on the people listed in the Goodspeed biography. The most interesting or promising links that I found then got incorporated into the blog entry. I am sorry if this confused youl. The link to the photos takes you to a site that has a photo album from someone called Dixie Rose. The url for the photos you write about is <http ://home.alltel.net/ehallman/scott001.htm>. I don\'t know the person who operates the Dixie Rose site (at home.alltell.net). You will likely want to contact her with your comments. Her contact information is located on her homepage at home.alltel.net/ehallman/index.htm. I hope this is useful.

Its me again. I was wondering who put the photos of Elijah and Lydia (Scott) Hall here. Thanks as they are my gggrandparents and I've never seen photo's of them before. As to the comment that the photo of Lydia was Coy Ferrells grandmother, his last name is FARRELL, and she would be his great grandmother. Again, the photo's are great and I enjoyed them sooooo much.
